The sun is high in the sky, the coals on the BBQ are crackling, and the smell of jasmine envelopes the garden. The summer is upon us and so are the smiles, smells, and sunburn that come with it. In the warmest of months, we crave lighter, fresher foods, often cooked for shorter amounts of time, but that deliver on natural, inherent flavour. The wines, then, must be considered to highlight and augment these clear but precise flavours on our plates. We want whites that soar with acidity and sing with fresh fruit flavours. Minerality is key too as this is the time of year, we consume the most fish and shellfish. Ripeness of fruit is also welcome in the whites, as long as there is a continued freshness, we love the taste of peaches, apricots, and pineapples in our glasses over the summer. And the reds should dance in the glass, lifted and light with hues of violets and rubies. We say ta-ra to tannins as we seek smoother reds that are suited to a chilling and deliver bright, freshly picked, crunchy fruit flavours - the perfect pairing for barbecued red meats, or pasta con pomodorini freschi. And lest we forget, these are the months of the year for rosé, and we've got you covered. For the Summer case, we have selected our favourite wines to accompany the flavours of the season and Clem Haxby's delicious food.

“There’s an old Italian saying my grandfather passed on to me: “Living la dolce vita”. It means “seize the day”, and whilst he was in fact from Middlesborough, I have always tried to carry the sentiment forward. These brilliant wines help me live each day to the fullest; I can’t recommend them enough. Gracias!”

Sociovino has really dramatically increased my interest in wine, I love the transparent and simple language used on the site, the brand really appeals to a younger modern audience compared to what I have previously know from the wine industry. Overall would 100% recommend, the quality and service is second to none.”
