The Pfaffl Wien 1 wine takes its inspiration from the traditional Austrian Gemischter Satz, which is a Viennese field blend wine. Riesling, Grüner Veltliner and Pinot Blanc (Weißburgunder to the locals) make up this zingy, fresh and fleshy white that has a lot to offer. A core of firm peach and pear fruit is joined by a backbone of limey acidity and a lovely roundness in the mouthfeel. The palate concentrates on the finish for a lingering, spicy, zesty tone that lifts and makes the mouth water. With a medium body and sweet, aromatic fruity core, this is a wine to chill and enjoy on its own on a summer Saturday, or to accompany grilled meaty feat or poultry. Read More

Traditionally in the wine region around Vienna, winemakers would have several varieties growing in the same plot but they would pick and vinify the vineyards together. This meant that the wine was a reflection on its place of origin, rather than of the specific grapes. A blend of Pinot Blanc, Riesling, Gruner – quintessentially Austrian. Based on the style Gemichter Satz, a wine made from field blends around Vienna – taken inspiriation from that but grown and fermented separately. Spicy, fruity, fresh, juicy and racy, this is Austrian white wine in a glass.
Grown in vineyards Just outside of Vienna, the only capital city in the world with a designated wine region, Pfaffl dedicate this wine to Austrian winemaking of time gone by. With their care in the vineyards and modern winemaking techniques, they manage to preserve every bit of aromatic freshness giving to the wine by the three white grapes that thrive in Austrian climes.
Pfaffl was set up by Roman Pfaffl in the 1970s in the Weinviertel growring region, a time when no one outside of Austria had heard of his local area. Today, Weinviertel enjoys some success on the world stage and this is largely thanks to the delicious, balanced wines made by Pfaffl.
The Pfaffl winery was set up in 1976 by brothers Roman Pfaffl. Based in the Weinviertal region, just north of Vienna, Pfaffl are crediting with putting the Weinviertel region on the global wine map. Before the 70s, when Roman and his team set about reorganising their vineyards for quality wine production, Weinviertel was a place where wine was produced solely for local consumption
