The Pfaffl winery was set up in 1976 by brothers Roman Pfaffl. Based in the Weinviertal region, just north of Vienna, Pfaffl are crediting with putting the Weinviertel region on the global wine map. Before the 70s, when Roman and his team set about reorganising their vineyards for quality wine production, Weinviertel was a place where wine was produced solely for local consumption

Total, Pfaffl cultivates over 100 hectares worth of vines and these are split between the Weinviertel and Vienna growing regions and in 10 different sites. Roman and his sister Heidi share the ownership of the winery and they are dedicated in producing wines of quality but that respect the long Austrian wine-making traditions of the area. In decades gone by, the wines made in this part of Austria were always fields blends, meaning different grapes shared the same vineyard sites but they were picked and fermented together. So the wine reflected its location more than it did the grape varieties that comprised it. Pfaffl continue this tradition, with both their white wine Wien 1 and red wine Wien 2 representing blends of different varieties.

Always fresh, fruit forward and with that iconic Austrian elegance, the Pfaffl wines has won numerous awards including the Wine Enthusiasts winery of the year a couple of years back. Since 2017, Pfaffl has been certified sustainable and we are very excited to share their quintessentially Austrian wines with you.
