About this wine case

Lifted, fresh, ethereal, bright, refreshing and lightly chilled: all adjectives we can confidently use to describe the six red wines in this case. Whether you’re a fan of Pinot Noir and want try similar wines, or if you fancy a bottle of red that skips on its feet and will perfectly accompany that BBQed meat you’re cooking up on the weekend, this case is for you. Coming from some of the world’s coolest regions for producing red wines, float away with our Light and Elegant red case.

Austria is a country growing in popularity for its wine-making as more and more people open their eyes to its long history of producing fantastically unique wines. The generally cool climate makes it perfect for Pinot Noir and the Johanneshof Reinisch example from Thermenregion is one of the best. After 8 months in oak, the bright cherry and strawberry notes are softened and rounded for a silky drop. Up the road in Weinviertel, Pfaffl are well-known for their delicious range of wines. Their Wien 2 is a blend of Pinot Noir and Zweigelt and has a spicier, warmer feel to it. Slight light and lifted, this is the perfect match for a pork chop!

Northern Italy is home to a host of cracking light reds too. In Friuli, old-school winemakers Ronchi di Cialla take a minimal intervention approach to indigenous varieties and their RiNera (made from Schioppettino grapes) is lip-smackingly good. White pepper and liquoirce dance on top of a charming strawberry and cranberry character! In Piedmont we find the mysterious Ruché variety, hiding in the forests of Monferrato. Violets, wild strawberries and rose water greet the drinker here and a super-silky mouth feel. The Corvina from Monte Tondo shines deserved a light on a herbal red grape that is usually blended into Valpolicella. And down in Tuscany, organic and super-sustainable Salcheto produce an unoaked Chianti that is full of cherry fruit, full of summer feels and full of fun.
