About the wine

This is a great chance to taste a mature Claret from an outstanding vintage at a fair price. The top wine from this fantastic producer, round and smooth St-Emilion red berry fruit with beautiful development and integrated mature notes of mushroom, forest undergrowth and liquorice.

From the right bank of Bordeaux, the wines of Pomerol are held in high esteem as some of the regions finest, most age worthy. The Silvestrini family own a small 1.2 hectare plot here, which is planted with Merlot and Cabernet Franc vines on clay-based soils. Vignobles Silvestrini Pomérol Domaine de la Pointe 2012 is made from 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc grapes. The grapes are carefully selected and harvested manually in order to protect the quality of the fruit. Fermentation occurs over a 10 to 15 day period in temperature controlled, stainless steel tanks, using selected yeasts. After which malolactic fermentation happens naturally in tank. The wine is pressed in a Pneumatic press and transferred to new French oak barrels to age for 12 months. They use new oak rather than used oak in order to benefit from maximum oak extraction for this wine. Just 7000 bottles were produced in 2012.
