Needing little introduction, France’s leading region for premium quality wines, Bordeaux is home to some of the world's most sought-after wineries and has long structured roots in the fine wine market. The region has 57 appellations which are sculptured around its rivers (Garonne and Dordogne) into three main areas; left bank, right bank and Entre Deux Mers. The key varieties here are Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.

The Silvestrini family moved from Veneto in Northern Italy, to the right bank of Bordeaux in the 1960’s and purchased Chateau Chereau, in Lussac Saint-Émilion. The estate is now run by third generation descendants, Jérôme and Sabine. As well as the 28 hectares they have in Lussac-St-Émilion, over time they have added 5.5 hectares in Montagne-Saint-Émilion and 1.2 hectares in Pomerol to their estate, these are three of the most prestigious appellations of the Libournais. Vignoble Silverstrini’s vineyards are planted with Merlot (73%), Cabernet Franc (17%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (10%). The right bank of Bordeaux is famed for their Merlot dominant wines.

Vignobles Silvestrini winery keeps a low profile and most of their produce is sold locally, so these under the radar gems are just fantastic value for money.
