A refined and mature Claret at a very good price point from a critically acclaimed vintage. Classic soft St-Emilion red berry fruit, smooth mouthfeel and a liquorice note. Château Chereau is a small family run business making off the radar wines of considerable personality and sense of place.
Vignobles Silvestrini Lussac-Saint-Émilion L'Égerie du Château Chereau 2010 is made from 80% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, grown on limestone and clay-based soils, typical of Saint-Émilion. Only the best grapes from their vineyards in Lussac are reserved for this special cuvée. The vineyards are machine harvested. Fermentation for a 10 to 15 day period in both cement vats and thermo-regulated stainless steel tanks. Malolactic fermentation happens naturally in tank. Periodic pump overs. A pneumatic pressing. The wine is aged in French oak barrels for 12 months. 10,000 bottles were made in 2010.
Translating to “the muse of Château Chereau”, Vignobles Silvestrini L'Egerie du Château Chereau is their signature wine. A truly great vintage, 2010 in Bordeaux was an exceptional year, particularly for areas such as Lussac-Saint-Émilion. A French Merlot wine of incredible structure, rich and complex with concentrated black fruits, vanilla, spice and a floral edge. For a delicious match, pair with roasted red meat and game, wild mushrooms, truffle or mature cheeses.
