Meroi work with some of the best low-yielding vineyards in Buttrio, Friuli Colli Orientali. Established in the early twentieth century by Domenico Meroi, this family-owned winery has passed through generations. Today, Domenico’s great-grandson, Paolo Meroi, continues the estate’s winemaking tradition, overseeing its expansion to 19 hectares in the Buttrio hills and ushering the estate into a new era with an emphasis on purity and freshness.

The Meroi vineyards are cultivated organically, though not formally certified. They refrain from using pesticides and herbicides, fertilise with manure, and treat the vines solely with copper sulphate and sulphur. Harvesting is carried out by hand at optimal ripeness, and the all the grape varieties are vinified separately; based on their quality, ripeness, and vineyard origin.

It is the unique location of the vineyards, the distinct soils, and the meticulous care taken in vine management that truly sets Meroi apart. This, combined with their winemaking philosophy, similar to that of Miani and Ronco del Gnemiz, where all whites are fermented and aged in barrel, results in wines that speak powerfully of Friuli’s terroir. The quality is exceptional, and we are positive these wines are destined for greatness.
