One of Southern Italy's most famous wine exports, Primitivo has made a name for itself in recent years for offering amazing value for money. Rich and full-bodied, with luscious fresh dark fruits and spice, this is a gorgeous wine which is incredibly moreish and boasts a long, satisfying finish.
The vineyards for this Primitivo are very close to the little town of Manduria in Puglia. They are south-facing and enjoy a very hot, Mediterranean climate. The Primitivo grapes are grown on bush vines, ripen early and are handpicked in early September. Maceration lasts for 12-15 days. Fermentation in stainless steel and maturation on the lees for 3 months prior to being bottled.
Great wine for roasted and grilled meats and ideal with game dishes. Alo pairs beautifully with mature, hard cheeses.
Magnifco’s Primitivo takes its name from the vineyards from which its grapes are grown – vineyards found in the Puglian region of Manduria, at the mid-point of Italy’s fiery heel. ‘Rosso Fuoco’ signifies ‘red fire’, and reflects the hot, south-facing and sun-drenched growing conditions of Southern Italy’s Puglia, where Primitivo grapes are grown on bush vines, creating shade for the fruit as a means of maintaining some acidity and varietal clarity in the face of the region’s glaring heat.
