Located in the Gattinara DOCG of Alto-Piemonte, Travaglini is a historic producer of Nebbiolo-based wines in Alto-Piemonte. Piedmont is home to some of the world's most famous wines, Barolo and Barbaresco, but these denominations make up just 3% of the regions offering. Further north, nestled in the foothills of the Alps is Alto-Piemonte, an area that has always taken a back seat to their attention-grabbing cousins, but more recently is seeing a resurgence in popularity and critical acclaim for producing incredible quality Nebbiolo alternatives at undisputable value.
Piedmont has long been at the heart of our wine journey. Our love for the region spreads far beyond the famous and attention-grabbing wines of Barolo and Barbaresco. In recent years, we have paid particular attention to Alto-Piemonte and the continual improvement of wines coming out of the sub-region. Alto-Piemonte is located in the north of Piedmont, nestled in the foothills of the Alps and, for many years the ethereal, Nebbiolo-based wines produced here have taken a back seat to their more powerful cousins produced further south in the Langhe. More recently, though, the numerous appellations situated around the Sesia river are receiving the recognition they deserve for distinctive, terroir-driven wines of great quality and indisputable value. Small, artisan wineries in the area craft beautiful expressions of Nebbiolo, and the difference in character from one small town to the next is extraordinary, unlike anywhere else.
