From high altitude, terraced vineyards on the volcanic slopes of active volcano Mount Etna, comes this beautiful wine from super star Sicilian grape Carricante. Dry and mineral, packed with flavours of apple, lime, and orange blossom, this wine has great balance, finesse, and freshness. It's what you might call a wine-drinkers wine, not full of overt fruit character, its appeal is in its concentration, tension and balance, all enveloped by the wonderful minerality for which Mount Etna has become known. Milo is a tiny municipality on Mount Etna which is renowned for high quality Carricante wines, the only area on Etna permitted for wines labelled Etna Bianco Superiore. Contrada Rinazzo is a single vineyard within Milo from which the grapes for this wine are harvested from. Planted on steep terraces, the vines thrive in these mineral rich, sandy, volcanic soils. Benanti Etna Bianco Superiore Contrada Rinazzo is made from 100% Carricante grapes which are hand-picked, de-stemmed and lightly pressed at the winery. Using indigenous Etnean yeasts, the wine is fermented in stainless steel. This is a pure expression which sees no time in oak, just a pre-longed refinement of 12 months in stainless steel on the fine lees, which gives the wine a roundness and extra complexity, followed by a further 6 months in bottle.

Enjoy alongside grilled Mediterranean vegetables, oily fish like sardines or mackerel, light shellfish or seafood pasta and risotto dishes with simple but elegant flavours - think lemon, chilli, capers!
