This is Chardonnay with alpine confidence and serious intent. Grown on calcareous clay and dolomitic soils at altitude in Alto Adige, Doran balances richness with freshness, precision with generosity. The nose is quietly complex, offering ripe orchard fruit and subtle tropical notes layered with hazelnut, gentle spice and a finely judged touch of oak—nothing showy, just calm, assured depth. On the palate it’s full‑bodied yet beautifully controlled, with ripe apple, stone fruit and a creamy texture shaped by time in tonneaux, all kept lifted by bright mountain acidity. Powerful but elegant, this is a Chardonnay defined by balance and food‑friendliness, working effortlessly with roast chicken, creamy mushroom dishes or aged alpine cheeses, and offering both immediate pleasure and ageing potential.
In a wine region steeped in history, you know you’re onto something special when you encounter the oldest, the first of its kinds. Cantina Andriano (or Kellerei Andrian), founded in 1893, is the oldest cooperative of winemakers in Alto-Adige, an area which, more than most, is dominated by social cooperatives. Today Cantina Andriano produces fresh, fruity, and mineral white wines with elegance and complexity in their youth that make them fantastic value for money.
