Lagar de Costa winery is a small, family run business located just off the Galician Coast in the region of Rías Baixas, in the northwest of Spain. These extraordinary vineyards, some more than 50 years old, could not be closer in proximity to the sea, with some literally sitting on the beaches, a mere few meters from the water. This unique Atlantic influenced, cool climate produces wines with saline minerality and unparalleled freshness. Idyllic conditions for production of premium quality Albariño.

Their hallmark Lagar de Costa Albariño is second to none but what is so exciting about this winery is that they are never afraid to try new things, in fact every time we speak to winemaker Sonia Costa she delights in telling us her latest ideas and experiments. The most recently released being Lagar de Costa Rego do Sol, the first natural wine in their range; extended skin contact, spontaneous ferment, wild yeasts, no filtration or fining. A compelling wine and not just for the natural wine fans out there!

Albariño is finally receiving the recognition it truly deserves and we couldn’t be more honoured to represent this fabulous producer in the UK. If you are looking for a case of Spanish Albariño then look no further, these wines will have you begging for more, of that we are sure.
