Jean de la Fontaine winery is a family-run estate and grower, made of 55 hectares located in Charly sur Marne, in the Marne Valley. Owned by the Baron sisters, Claire (Sales Manager), Lise (Viticulturalist) and Aline (Winemaker), they are the third generation to run the estate since its establishment in 1947, by their grandfather Albert Baron. Jean de la Fontaine is a pioneering estate and sustainability is key to their ethos, they were amongst the very first wineries in Champagne to receive their Sustainable Viticulture in Champagne and High Environmental Value (HEV) certifications. Their winery is modern however but preservation of their ancestral heritage is very important, and they continue to use many traditional techniques and family recipes that have been passed down through generations.
