About the wine

The Zweigelt Rosé from our friends at the Huber winery in Traisental is a special rosé, one that ticks all of the boxes for that delicate, crisp, fruity yet elegant pink drop we all search for between those legendary months of May and August. No, you might not have tried an Austrian rosé before, but yes you will fall in love with this one once you’ve tasted it. Red strawberry skins, a fleck of blueberry and a hint of cranberry accompanied by a lemon-like, linear backbone and refreshing, cooling finish. Crack this out at a BBQ and your friends will thank you for it.

An understated favourite of everyone here at Sociovino, when the warm weather comes around, you’ll hear us say to many a customer ‘put down the Provence Rosé and pick up your Huber, you don’t know what you’re missing out on’. The juice from the Zweigelt berries spend just a couple of hours with the skins after pressing, this ensures a delicate and elegant wine with pretty yet subtle red berry character and a light floral nod. The climate in Traisental makes it perfect for refreshing rosé production. Extremely cool nights during ripening season mean that the grapes retain their lovely acidity - something we all crave on a hot July day (however mythical those may seem).

About the wine

This will pair perfectly with grilled white fish or cured meats and is best enjoyed straight out the ice bucket with condensation dripping down the neck. Organic certified from the 2020 vintage, this Austrian Zweigelt Rosé is an under the radar whopper. Markus Huber took over his family’s estate in 2006 and introduced this rosé into the portfolio more recently. It’s been a hit across the UK in the last couple of summers and even made its way onto a couple of Michelin restaurant wine lists. Our flagship rosé this most certainly is – thank you Markus!
