Costa Verde meaning green coast refers to coastal vineyards from which the grapes for this wine are from. Sustainability is a key focus for Tenuta di Tavignano, they farm their vineyards using eco-friendly practices and are certified organic. Tenuta di Tavignano Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Costa Verde is made from 100% Verdicchio grapes which are hand harvested, to preserve the quality of the fruit. The wine is vinified in a stainless steel tank where it refines for 2 months post-fermentation before bottling and release.
A wonderful summer aperitif wine, you really get a sense of the coastal influence from the saline mineral character and freshness. It is also the perfect wine to accompany seafood, matching the zingy citrus fruits and minerality with fish or shellfish dishes; grilled prawns, spaghetti with clams, and fresh oysters, for example, make for a heavenly combination with this sustainable Italian Verdicchio wine.
Tenuta di Tavignano is a family run winery located in the heart of the Marche region, on the Eastern coast of Italy. Today the estate is managed by Ondine de la Feld, who since taking over from her uncle in 2014, has made huge progress in establishing this estate as a top Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi producer. Verdicchio is without doubt one of Italy’s most important native grape varieties and nowhere is it more prevalent than in the Marche. A vigorous grape, that thrives in these hilly vineyards of clay and limestone soils, and coastal influences from the proximity to sea. From light and easy drinking dry whites to more complex examples which transform phenomenally with age, this versatile variety has become an iconic Italian style.
