Just one barrel of this wine was made in 2020 (that's just under 300 bottles) so we're incredibly privileged to be able to offer you some of these rare gems. After gentle pressing and a couple of hours' skin contact for the gorgeous salmon pink colour, the wine spends three months in a used French barrique. An unusual technique for this style of bright and lively rosé, but it helps to soften the fruit flavours, and brings the acidity and tannin into balance for a seamless, delicious drop. The Lagar de Costa winery is situated in Salnes, Rìas Baixas, a mere stones throw from the Atlantic. Here, the sea forms part of the life of the winemakers, with the salty air and seawater contributing to so much character in the wines. Albariño reigns in this part of the world, and Lagar de Costa make some of the very best, but the red grape Espadeiro comes into its own too. Organic practicing and producing wines with minimal intervention and low sulphur additions, Sonia Costa and family produce these regionally truthful wines with the utmost respect for their amazing land. Salud!
Lagar de Costa winery is a small, family run business located just off the Galician Coast in the region of Rías Baixas, in the northwest of Spain. These extraordinary vineyards, some more than 50 years old, could not be closer in proximity to the sea, with some literally sitting on the beaches, a mere few meters from the water. This unique Atlantic influenced, cool climate produces wines with saline minerality and unparalleled freshness. Idyllic conditions for production of premium quality Albariño.
