Winemaker Christian Patat is one of Italy’s greatest talents and this is his latest project. Having been a consultant winemaker in Italy for many years, Christian has a reputation for his incredible knowledge, impeccable palate, and skill for spotting potential. Friuli, in the Northeast of Italy, is his home and the area that he is particularly passionate about, dedicated to developing the land and showcasing the region's potential, and Fondo Indizeno has been set up to do just that. They work with 15 hectares of sustainably farmed, old vines in Colli Orientali del Friuli. The grapes for this 100% Ribolla Gialla wine come from the Buttrio hills, where the vines are over 40 years old. After harvest, the grapes are softly and slowly pressed, and the must is transferred to stainless steel for fermentation. To preserve the purity of the grape and best express this unique terroir, all their wines are aged in stainless steel on the lees.
This is a fantastic introduction to Ribolla Gialla wines, a native grape variety of Friuli. Enjoy this summery white with fresh and fragrant dishes such as sushi, grilled prawns, spaghetti with clams, and Thai salads.
From one of Italy’s most top winemakers comes this exciting new project called Fondo Indizeno. Fondo Indizeno winery is located in Colli Orientali del Friuli, in the Northeast of Italy. Their vineyards cover three villages; Buttrio, Premariacco and Prepotto. Each chosen specifically for having superior quality terroir, with the aim to showcase the areas potential and quality attainable. They work with 15 hectares of old vines planted with Ribolla Gialla, Chardonnay, Sauvignon, Friulano, Malvasia and Pinot Bianco.
