Il Pestifero (meaning naughty boy) is part of Tenuta di Tavignano’s “I Love Monsters” range, designed to celebrate the wild and rugged nature of natural wines and their many quirks. Tenuta di Tavignano is a family-run, quality-focused winery in the heart of the Marche region, on the East coast of Italy. Sustainability is an integral part of their ethos, organic certified, they farm using eco-friendly practices. Pét-Nat meaning ‘pétillant naturel’, is a term used to describe natural sparkling wines. Tenuta di Tavignano Il Pestifero Pét-Nat is made from a blend of mostly Verdicchio and small amounts of Malvasia and Sangiovese grapes to make up the blend. The best quality grapes are selected, and hand-harvested. After primary fermentation in tank, the wine is bottled and undergoes a secondary fermentation in bottle. The wine is released after 2 months, without disgorgement or filtration.
This organic Italian natural sparkling wine from the Marche is a great aperitif wine. Low in alcohol making it very easy drinking. It also works really well with light appetizers such as sushi, sashimi, or vegetable tempura.
Tenuta di Tavignano is a family run winery located in the heart of the Marche region, on the Eastern coast of Italy. Today the estate is managed by Ondine de la Feld, who since taking over from her uncle in 2014, has made huge progress in establishing this estate as a top Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi producer. Verdicchio is without doubt one of Italy’s most important native grape varieties and nowhere is it more prevalent than in the Marche. A vigorous grape, that thrives in these hilly vineyards of clay and limestone soils, and coastal influences from the proximity to sea. From light and easy drinking dry whites to more complex examples which transform phenomenally with age, this versatile variety has become an iconic Italian style.
